Description
Giarratana Onion Tasting – 4 Specialties
The Giarratana Onion Tasting is a savory selection designed to highlight one of the most distinctive specialties of southeastern Sicily: the Giarratana Onion, a traditional variety of the Iblei mountains known for its natural sweetness, meaty texture, and delicate flavor.
It is not a simple preserve: it is a product that tells the story of a specific territory, made up of peasant cuisine, generous vegetables, slow recipes, and authentic Sicilian flavors. In this selection, the Giarratana Onion is presented in four different interpretations, ideal for aperitifs, charcuterie boards, cheeses, meats, bruschetta, and gourmet tastings.
Packaging: this offer is an assortment of products and does not include a dedicated gift box. The jars are protected and packed for shipping.
Why the Giarratana Onion is special
The Giarratana Onion is a historic Sicilian variety linked to the Iblei area, appreciated for its large bulb, white and meaty pulp, and naturally sweet taste. It is a mild onion, less pungent than other varieties, capable of becoming the star in the kitchen without overpowering the other ingredients.
Its typicality makes it perfect for preserves, compotes, and gastronomic preparations to be paired with aged cheeses, cured meats, roasted meats, toasted bread, and dishes of the Sicilian tradition.
